Betting with PayPal in the UK: who takes it, and what it costs you

Updated on July 25, 2026·Deposits tested with real money·29 verified sites

PayPal earns its place for one reason above the rest: it is consistently the fastest way to get money back out. On the brands we timed, a PayPal payout landed while a card withdrawal from the same operator was still pending, and your bank details never reach the betting site at all. Coverage is good across the household names, thinner once you get into the smaller challenger brands.

Below: exactly which of the 35 brands we track support PayPal, whether funding this way can disqualify you from a sign-up offer, and how long the round trip actually took when we timed it with our own money.

Which brands in our table accept PayPal

Read this hub as a shortlist rather than a universal option. The bigger UKGC operators nearly all support PayPal in both directions; several of the exchanges and newer sportsbooks in our table list card and bank transfer only, so check the brand's own review before you assume it is there. Two conditions catch people out. One, most sites will only pay out to PayPal if you deposited with PayPal first, which makes your very first deposit a decision rather than an afterthought.

Two, a minority of welcome offers exclude e-wallet deposits from qualifying, so if you are chasing a specific offer the terms are worth thirty seconds of reading before you fund anything. Get both right and PayPal is the quickest round trip available to a UK bettor.

Funding an account with PayPal: the actual steps

This is the same routine we followed when timing every brand on this page:

Getting winnings back out via PayPal

The withdrawal route mirrors the deposit one: cashier, "Withdraw", PayPal, amount, confirm. From there it's the operator's clock, not yours, usually a matter of hours and rarely more than a day or two. The one thing worth doing in advance: complete the UKGC identity checks the moment you sign up, not the day you actually want your money, since an unverified account is the single most common reason a withdrawal sits waiting.

PayPal versus Debit card: does it actually matter which you pick?

Not much, on the brands we list: both clear at similar speed and neither carries a fee worth worrying about. The practical answer is to use whichever one you already have set up, and there's nothing stopping you registering both against the same betting account for flexibility. If Visa / Mastercard debit is more your habit, our Debit card guide runs the identical test.

FAQ, betting with PayPal

How many of the brands on this site take PayPal?
29 out of the whole catalogue, led by GGBET, Paddy Power, William Hill, Betfair, Livescore Bet. The table above shows every one, ranked the same way as our main comparison.
Does a PayPal deposit show up straight away?
In our testing, yes: confirm the payment in the PayPal app or website and the balance is there before you've switched screens.
What's the realistic wait on a PayPal withdrawal?
It varies by brand, from a couple of hours at the fastest operators to closer to a day or two elsewhere. We time this on our own money for every review on this site rather than repeating what a promotions page claims.
Does using PayPal cost anything extra?
Not at any UKGC-licensed brand we list: no deposit or withdrawal fee on their side. Your own bank could still apply its usual charges, separate from anything the bookmaker controls.
Is PayPal enough on its own, start to finish?
Yes: sign-up, deposit, betting and withdrawing winnings all run through it in pounds sterling, no second method needed unless you want one for a specific brand.
